Anne Sanderson Smith papers, 1934-1973.

Papers compiled by Smith as part of her research for her master's thesis, which was never completed due to her marriage. The material deals with her efforts to prove that Capt. Leonard Josiah Crocker of Woodruff County, Ark., assumed the name Quantrell during the Civil War and led a gang of guerilla fighters in Missouri. It was reported that Quantrell died in prison toward the end of the war, but Smith hoped to prove otherwise.
